My love for running started late at the age of 35. I had always loved the idea of running but hadn't done it much before then.
My first run was 10km, around Burbank, CA, I loved the feeling of the wind in my hair and the pounding of my heart in my chest as I pushed myself to keep going. To say I was tired after reaching the finish line is an understatement. But reaching the finish line felt awesome.I felt like I was just getting comfortable! I knew then that I wanted to keep running, and so from that day on I'd go for a run at least a few times a week.
I gradually increased the distance of my runs, eventually reaching 6-13 miles each time. I have finished 6 full marathons so far. This was hard work but it made me feel strong and proud of myself. I found running to be therapeutic and began to rely on it for stress relief.
I also began to enter races, which really motivated me. It was exciting to see how much faster and further I could push myself. With each passing month, I improved my times and set new goals.
Running has become an important part of my life now. It's something I look forward to every week and has taught me a lot about goal-setting and perseverance and self-discipline. While I don't plan on becoming a professional runner, I will always be grateful for the journey running has taken me on.
